Selling a Vacant Home this Winter? Turn up the Heat!

Those in the South Jersey area are well aware that winter is here!  Today the sun actually peaked out for a little bit, but for the most part this December, it's been cold with snow, sleet and freezing rain.

Mother Nature really isn't helping out those who may be trying to sell a home this winter.  If you're like many who got caught up in the changing market, you've already moved and the home you're trying to sell this winter season is vacant.  The best piece of advice I can provide for you right now is...turn up the heat!

I understand that many are trying to reduce the costs associated with owning two homes and keep the heat settings low.  Consider this however.  If you have potential buyer looking at this time of year...chances are they are a very serious buyer.  Don't you want them to feel comfortable in your home?  I've been in a few vacant homes the past couple of weeks and the home was just downright cold.  In one home the heat was actually off!  This makes for a very uncomfortable environment for the buyer and instead of taking their time and really looking at the home, many times they rush through to get back to the warmth of the car.

So please, keep the temperature up!  It may cost a couple of more dollars now, but making the home more inviting during a showing will certainly increase your chances of an offer coming your way!
